Ramelin’s Savage Coast, 8 miles per hex
Jose prepared this map ten days after posting his Southold v2 map. Given that the Savage Coast is a subset of Southold, you would expect it to be essentially an extract from that map. However, there are two discrepancies.
First, there was a missing shipping lane on the far western edge of the map, completing the link between the Colony of the Horn and Nimmur. This was present on the Southold v2 map, but not here.
Second, there was a strange regression along the northeastern edge of the map, where Hule should be visible poking onto the northern extents of the plateau marked Dankut Territory. This was present not only on Southold v2 but even on Southold v1 back in 2015. Why it was missing here is a bit of a mystery, but regardless Jose did not adopt this change outside of this map. It was therefore most likely just an error — not at all surprising given the vast scope and size of the maps Jose had accumulated in his project.
Aside from these minor issues, this is a useful map to have. There is a tendency among fan cartographers to provide ever-larger sections of the world in vast maps with astronomical file sizes, but these can be quite unwieldy in practice. While the huge maps are awesome and a lot of fun, it’s always welcome to have smaller, more accessible maps, too.
