Ramelin’s Midlands, 8 miles per hex
Most of this map had already been previewed in Jose’s Brun v1 (50% resolution) map earlier in the month, but this was the first time for various connecting regions to appear at full scale. Hule, Valhara, and the Great Waste all came from previous maps, while the areas in between were new here. This primarily means a strip of land between Hule and the Yalu Sea area, as well as most of the top right corner of the map. Note that the Brun v1 map did not include the most recent versions even of its constituent maps, so that for example the detailing of the Great Waste was missing.
In terms of placement on the continental map, this map was significant because it showed explicitly the relationship between Hule and the Yalu Sea on a single map. Previously this would have been deducible, albeit with blank areas in between.
Jose chose to adopt a compromise between older maps with the Hollow World Set shape and location for the Yalu Sea, and Companion/Master Set versions, which had a different shape and more northerly location. This was surely a step in the right direction, and it I’m quite sure it must have made his mapping of the region rather tricky.
While he shared this map on DeviantArt, there is a larger map of Central Brun from the same time that Jose did not share. It included this map in its entirety with little change, suggesting that perhaps this map was an excerpt of the larger one.
