Ramelin’s Alphatian Empire, 8 miles per hex
Considering that Jose’s earliest remaining map fragment was Frisland in February 2015, it would be fair to say that this map — including his first complete map of mainland Alphatia — had been a long time coming. In the meantime, he had provided tantalising glimpses of a composite Alphatia map, with sections of the island continent appearing in his Sea of Dawn Islands and Norzee maps. He had also developed two of the “missing” nations in his Blackheart and Imperial Territories maps.
Note that this map included only the first update to the coastal waters of the Alatians, from his Isle of Dawn standalone map, and not the second from South Sea. It also had an older, less developed version of Verdan in Esterhold, though the rest of the map was mostly the same. These facts suggest that perhaps it predated those maps.
On the other hand, Jose included new updates to his previous versions of Qeodhar and the Imperial Territories. He would create standalone maps for both areas two months later, presumably using excerpts from this map.
Shiye-Lawr was the only area of mainland Alphatia which neither Bruce nor Jose had developed at this point. Jose would produce his version of it, completing the map of Alphatia, two months later.
Finally, this map contained Jose’s latest compilation of Bellissaria, updating his version 2 map from an array of individual maps published after it. He even included his as-yet-unpublished completed Dawnrim. Version 3 would include yet more details, but would not appear until mid-2018.
All in all, this was a mega map of the Alphatian Empire — the first ever to be produced at 8 miles per hex. It was a little unwieldy at this size, however, and likely for this reason Jose reduced it to 75% of his usual resolution. For this reason alone, the successive releases of excerpts from this map had great value, as they appeared at his full usual resolution.
