Ashtagon’s HWR1 The Azcan Empire, 8 miles per hex
Emma continued through the HWR series after Milenia, next choosing to tackle Azca. As with her other maps, she mostly stuck to the original, but implementing her new symbol tweaks in the process. She first posted the map at The Piazza at the end of October 2023, commenting:
This is a near-replica copy of the map from HWR1: Sons of Azca. I have taken artistic licence to make some light forest and forested hills terrain into light jungle and jungle with hills tiles, and I have removed the eight-mile-long bridge going from the capital across the sea to the mainland. I’m not sure the Azcans have such advanced bridge-building technology.
There followed a discussion of the offending bridge, and she ended up restoring it in an update a few days later:
Uploaded a new version. I fixed a spelling mistake and restored that bridge-road-causeway thing to the capital.
Overall, this was a good map for showing off Emma’s jungle palette, and how it differed from her forest colours.
