Zendrolion’s Norwold Domains, 24 miles per hex v1

As I noted previously, with the toponyms largely done, Simone next moved to the onerous task of sorting through Norwold’s surprisingly many dominions. He introduced his first pass at this with the following comment (translation via Google Translate as always):

Let’s move on to the placement of the fiefdoms. I’ll start with those whose locations we have some clue about, and then move on to the others. Incidentally, if I found a name for a fiefdom I liked, I’ve indicated it (these names, many taken from the Vaults, are all NON-CANON, except “Valle dei Due Laghi” and “Garette”).

Then he provided a long list of the dominions and their lords, before further explaining his choice in making the map:

And finally, here is a map of the POSSIBLE locations of the fiefdoms (I used a map without toponyms, otherwise I would have gone crazy trying to put the names on it …

Looking at the map, it’s easy to see why he left out the geographical labels at this point.

Many of the names in this series of dominion maps are in Italian. The sheer number of them meant that there was a lot of back and forth in placing them on the map, including quite a few differences in opinion — inevitable with Norwold, since logic can only go so far before an arbitrary decision must be made. And placing all the dominions required rather a lot of those decisions.

Simone would iterate through two more versions of this map before the month was out.
